EXPANDED STORY:

In just over two years, we have helped position U.S. Gas & Electric (USG&E) for success in the deregulated natural gas marketplace. This North Miami Beach, Florida-based company markets natural gas in deregulated areas of five states—up from one state when MVC took a controlling interest in August 2007. Since then, we’ve helped the utility grow and we’ve helped the company leverage opportunities throughout the country to provide lower-cost gas to commercial and residential customers through arrangements with utilities that do not market heavily in regulated areas.

Extensively involved.

We have influenced every aspect of USG&E’s business, hiring key management team members and providing guidance on logistics, finance, M&A, IT, capital market matters and more. We oversaw an add-on acquisition that integrated a competitor into USG&E without requiring up-front cash.

Our hands-on involvement with USG&E is typical of our approach, with two Tokarz Group executives on the USG&E board and another independent board member—with three decades experience in the energy field—as an operating partner.
